I noticed that several posters live in SoCal. I took both my boys on the same day to the Golden West Humane Society on Gilbert in Garden Grove. I now use them as my non emergency vets. I had bloodwork, both boys fixed, pain meds, antibiotics and microchipped for $160 for both. Neither one of my boys had any problems, they do not even have a scar and they were running around within an hour after getting home. They have treated my boys for minor things since and their prices are extremely reasonable. Garett had a minor skin infection, $12 for the visit, $20 for meds. I like the staff there, they love the boys and I will continue using them for non-emergency stuff (unfortunately they do not handle emergencies). Another member also got her boy fixed there and was happy with the services. Check out your local Humane Society.
