I do show and do a small amount of breeding. I myself will only register with AKC or buy a dog that is AKC, except for my imports which are FCI. Canadian Kennel club is also a good registry. AKC does do inhome inspections once a breeder has had 5 litters in one year, unless the requirements has changed. AKC looks at your records and the shape of your dogs, dogs living environment and each dog has to be microchipped or tattooed. Some people will buy an AKC dog on limited registration and than turn around and CKC, APR, NPR, ACA the dog to be able to breed it! I honestly believe there are alot of suspended AKC breeders that also resort to these registries to keeping breeding their dogs with some kind of papers! My personal opinion is that our dogs would be better off with just AKC here in the US.
