Default Kennel cough

I had Ziggy to the groomer's 9 days ago and he became sick about 4 days later-was off his food and lethargic. Early Saturday morning he started coughing up phlegm and this continued all day and into Sunday-although was less by Sunday evening. Took him to the vet first thing this morning and she diagnosed kennel cough. He is much-improved already so she held off prescribing any medication; she says he has a strong immune system which is fighting it off. Luckily he's a teapot so missing a meal doesn't bother him.

She recommends getting him the bordatella vaccine if I continue to use the same groomer.

What do you think of this shot? He's been to the groomer five times and never had a problem-do you think he really needs this shot?

BTW, I have to call the groomer tomorrow and find a diplomatic way to tell her that he developed kennel cough after he was there. I don't want her to think he brought it into her place but one of the seven dogs there last Saturday must have had it. He has had no other exposure to dogs during this time. There may be other clients who have sick dogs. She needs to bleach the surfaces in her studio.
