Maybe your yorkie is a sensitive soul. My Ramsey is terrified of thunderstorms, cars backfiring, fireworks...any loud noise....
and house flies. 
I actually have to hunt down any rogue fly...because they make her a nervous wreck. I've gone as far as to show her their corpses afterward. Double
Their hearing is very acute...he may hear something you don't hear. Or it could be flies.
