With my older dog, most people ask.. but the puppy they just grab and get in her face... I want her to be a therapy dog, and am trying to expose her to as many different situations as I can... but only if the people ask first. I don't let many hold her because she is squirmy.
My older dog (2) since becomming a mama is protective now, and lets everyone know she is there watching them, but she keeps her distance.
I try and keep in my mind how I am when I see a cute dog, I usually ask the owner if I can pet the pup, or tell them how cute they are... so I keep my patients with people when they ask me
