That feeling of relief ... First, sorry this is so long, but ...
There's nothing better than that feeling of relief you get when your baby has been sick and you begin to see the first signs that he/she is feeling better. I've had a nervous couple of days, as Archie came down with an unknown ailment which caused him to scream in pain for (seemingly) no reason. It seemed to be connected to his mouth at first, as he cried out if I put my fingers in his mouth. He also was trembling, which he does when he is in pain. And his usually wiggly little tail was tucked under his tushy. I had a nervous night before I could get him in to the vet the next morning and it just killed me to see him looking so forlorn and in pain.
Well, long story short, the vet couldn't find anything wrong, except that his left eye (on the side of the pain) had a little discharge. The diagnosis was "trauma" and she gave him eye drops and an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Well, he was pretty mopey most of today, just laying around, his tale still tucked and looking sad. But as evening came on, he started to look better: eyes bright, tail up, wanting to play and eating a good dinner. I just got a lump in my throat when I began to see signs of "My Babe" coming back.
Gosh, I love him so much -- and it's so hard to see him suffering. But I'm, SO RELIEVED to see tonight that he seems to be on the mend.
