Yup, Yorkies are just people attraction magnets! You can always say something like, "it's awkward for her to play with strangers" or "she gets scared of strangers" or "we only allow new people to hold her while sitting on a couch and inside" or "sorry, but no!". Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad because you are not letting them play with YOUR Yorkie. Some people have the idea that it's their right to play with your Yorkie, and that's just simply absurd. We almost never let anyone hold Yoda when we are out, just because there is a possibility that he will wiggle out of their arms (and the fact that someone could try to kidnap him if they are holding him). As for off-leash, that's very dangerous too as strangers may make Yoda feel uncomfortable, which could lead to anything.

Mainly we allow kids and adults to bend down and pet him gently, or we just start to walk away. For senior citizens that want to meet Yoda, we will pick Yoda up and bring him close to them so they can pet him and look at him.
