I'm not running out to order up a plate of dog, please don't get me wrong, but who are we to pass judgement on their culture?? If you think its awful, be polite and respectful, and just don't order it... you don't insult people on their soil!
We are looked at just as badly if not more so for eating the flesh of the sacred and holy cow! How could we eat such an animal??
My daughter is going to china for two weeks to watch the Olympics! I have had the talk with her about being a gracious guest in anouther country. She knows that you never insult something offered to you and you always take a small amount and "try" it. And never make a face. If its just not for you, and you honestly can't stomach something, politely say no thank you. But she is going with an open mind and is pretty gutsy! lol
Bottom line, its easy to talk smack, but just think about the cultural differances and the traditions you may be insulting in the process! You don't have to agree but you can be respectfull. |
I feel like I must be misunderstanding you. Are you saying your daughter would feel obligated by manners to eat dog? I teach my daughter the importance of respecting others and being gracious but I also teach her she has every right to uphold her own beliefs and values.
