I think it depends on the type of worm or parasite you're talking about. Tapeworms are a result of fleas and you can have an occurrence thirty days after a treatment since the eggs...or whatever. I'm not a vet! lol
Anyway, take a photo or call the vet and describe. They will be the best ones to give advice and they know what's in the area, etc... and the medications/vaccines she's received.
Gizmo had a lot of parasites when we got him and the tapeworms were the biggest nightmare to get rid of. You have to do a double treatment to catch the eggs just right, and it's a good idea to be on a flea preventative as well.
You also have to deflea your house, your carpet, your yard...what a pain!
