I am so sorry to hear about Jersey. I think you are right, that it probably is a result of poor breeding. Do you know how she was raised as a puppy? Puppies needs lots of human contact right from the start. If she was raised in a cage without enough human interaction, it would explain her problem with socialization. At one year, when a puppy reaches adulthood, is usually when the aggressive behavior starts in puppies from puppy mill type situations.
As Tae1107 suggested, a bile acid test to check for a liver shunt is a good idea. Dogs can have normal liver values on a routine CBC and still have high bile acids. Since Yorkies are 36 times more likely to have a shunt than all other breeds combined and you say she didn't come from a reputable breeder, a shunt is a real possibility. |
