It looks like there's a pretty good chance I'll be getting Jackson and Bear! If any of you have seen my previous posts about Jackson and his brother Bear, you'll know my ex-wife if giving me one of the two puppies from one of her Yorkie's recent, unexpected litters. Jackson is my pup and Bear is the other. My kids are dying for her to keep Bear but they have four other Yorkies including the pup's mother and my ex knows who most of the work of training a new puppy will fall on and she doesn't want it. At the same time, she's come to love Bear enough that she doesn't want to have to worry about who he's going to or if he'll be taken care of and raised properly plus she wants the kids to still be able to see him. So, yesterday afternoon she dropped a little bombshell that started with "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to talk to you about Bear". She said she's really thinking she wants me to take him as well. With my ex, that means she's about 95% sure but just needs to convince herself. Anyway, it looks like there's a very good chance both Jackson and Bear will be coming home with me on August 29th.
Sometimes I really wonder what has come over this woman I thought I knew so well. Let's face it, she was one of the worst wive's a guy could ask for. At the same time, if a guy has to have an ex-wife, after we got past all the initial post divorce ugliness, she's been one of the best ex-wive's a guy could have. She's definitely going above and beyond the call of duty by giving me a Yorkie puppy and now maybe two, for nothing more than covering a couple hundred dollars of vet bills apiece.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share the news. Now I may get to find out if two really are more than twice the fun of one. Raising them together would prove more than interesting I'm sure.

P.S. - I've been purchasing a few supplies every week so I don't break the bank when they come home. I'd picked up mostly grooming supplies. Yesterday I picked up a crate, carrier, blanket and mattress for $96 and a 10-panel exercise pen for $62. Throw all that in with vet bills and what I've already purchased and I'm in for about $400. Figure in another couple hundred if Bear comes home. I guess there's a lot of truth to the old saying "There's no such thing as a free puppy"
P.S.S. - My ex called while I was typing this and confirmed it. Bear is coming home with me. The brothers will be raised together and I'm sure will get to visit with their mother occasionally! Yep, best ex-wife ever. |
