That happened with Preston too. The vet did snip the end of it, then we went back several weeks later and they squeezed it kind of like a pimple and got more out. It got a little red and irritated, and he had me put some neosporin on it, it finally all fell out and the little spot healed up. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets red though. Just like with humans, different body chemistry makes it take longer with some than others for it to completely dissolve.
