boy this kennel cough vac is a real catch 22...if you get the vac they can get sick..and if you dont thay can get sick....anyway i hope this helps...my Riley Blue,,,has kennel cough that turned into pnumonia..(he came that way from the breeder).he was also 14 weeks old..he was a very sick pup..I took him to the vet as soon as we got him and she put him on antibiotcs..and prednasone..he was starting to feel better by the next day.but he continued to cough and weeze for 5 days. and my vet also said no cough suppressants because you want the stuff to come out of their bodies. if he is coughing up mucus he must have some conjestion and you want that to come out..the prednasone is probable opening up the airways for it to come up..I also spoke to a second vet just to make sure and he told me to try feeding him homade chicken soup.for one week. but to make sure it had garlic and parsley and celery and carrots. he insisted that there really is something to chicken soup helping you gett better ffom a sickness..and thats is what i did..it has been 7 days since i first started the antibiotcs and the chicken soup..and he has made a full recovery..his coat even looks better.and he had sever pnumonia...if he wont eat the chicen soup you can but it in a blender and use a syringe to feed it to him..to make sure he eats it...I also put riley on a puppy vitimim...and gave him a little nutri cal. to help him with the extra nutrients to help him fight his sickness...and if you are waiting on your vet to give the antbiotics..you can get started on the chicken soup now if you want...and I used fresh ingredients too..like fresh garlic..and fresh parsley...hope this helps
