I "made" Scooter do the right thing - but on his own - and he caught on really quick.
For sit, I held the treat right at his nose, then slowly lifted it up and back, his nose followed and (after a couple tries) his bum eventually hit the ground instead of him just backing up - after that sit was easy.
Same with down - I'd make his sit, then i'd pull the treat out from his nose and down - his nose followed and eventually his body did the right thing and he got the treat!
After he did it on his own, he caught on really fast!
I also did it to get him to stand up on his back legs - just lift the treat straight up from his nose and once he does it on his own he gets it!
