I was reading some of your posts and on one you mentioned that Charlie had trouble going up the wood stairs because his nails were so long, that you hadn't cut them since last summer. My guess is that he is not used to being groomed regularly so he is afraid and therefor snappy. If you take your time gently brushing him and getting him used to touching his feet etc I think he will eventually be more trusting and allow you to groom him. You should brush him every day and his nails should be trimmed every six to eight weeks. His eyes should be kept clean and neatly trimmed. It takes time but over time he will love the attention and feeling clean and look forward to having it done. Also he should be given a bath every couple of weeks, using a gently conditioning shampoo.
