I don't really know about better food meaning less poops.
When mine were young they could have pooped 5x a day, depends on how much food they eat and don't forget about treats and cookies.
Roxy is now 3.5 y/o - I homecook fresh for her, very healthy, and she is still guaranteed to poop 3x (maybe 4 on occasion)
...anyway...I think it's kinda normal, you just have to get to know her and her schedule
