Yikes! I feel lucky never to have run across anyone that thinks that way. I am in Grad school so I understand budgeting what you have and that kind of thing. I even budget Bella's allowance - I know this makes me seem crazy, but it's not. I use her "allowance" to buy toys or clothing. And I only spend that amount each month. So far it has worked great since I have had Bella since May. It helps keep me in line so I don't go overboard (which I tend to do ALOT).
My cousin wanted me to breed Bella with our friends Yorkie who is about 7 months older than Bella and I sad NO WAY!!!! I would consider it if I had a clue about breeding and had someone holding my hand, but then I wouldn't be able to give up Bella's puppies. So I would have lots and lots of yorkies. So I am having Bella fixed in September to remove that temptation.
Besides, my thought is to leave it to the breeders who know what they are doing and are good at it!
