After ten years I finally gave in and bought another one. Gizmo my older one and my teapot was 10 years old when I got Barkley. I worried about the transition, could I love another one as much, would he feel left out, would he be mean to the new one, etc. I manage a veterinarian's office and talked at length with my vet and he encouraged me to go ahead. He said Gizmo would teach the new one (Barkley) his good habits, teach him how to potty, etc. He was right. The transition was perfect. Giz has been a true gentleman. Sometimes he gets aggravated but has been just great with Barkley. He has taught him how to potty, and Barkley looks to Gizmo for everything. On August 15th Barkley will be 1 and Gizmo will be 11 on August 16th. It has been the best thing I have ever done. I will admit that Gizmo has always been very well behaved, laid back little guy and I know that has a lot to do with how he accepted Barkley. They are all different. |
