My boyfriend tried doing that with my puppy but I stopped him each time, (thank god he listened) what helped me was going to the sick and emergency thread and making him read a bunch of posts.
Now he doesn't do stuff like feed foods I said are forbidden
Let my baby play on the couch while watching him-his version
of watching is focusing on the t.v and glancing down once in
a blue moon, he holds him properly etc..
I hope your dad ends up changing, worse come to worse
