There are lots of people that love the short puppy cut. Its easier to manage. However I love the long hair and do feel you need to trim the hair just like woman do with the split ends to make it healthier. But you have to really know the groomer and make sure they understand what you want. Most want to cut the yorkies and the groomers I have had only 1 has known how to cut a yorkie.
