We are very tempted to try her AKC. I have known yorkies with full tails to be shown AKC. There is a Open class female out with a handler now that has a full tail. But I have known them to have ribbons withheld and judgments made against them.
I guess it is hard for people/judges to get used to. We have a friend that has a beautiful boxer out in the ring with natural ears and is having a difficult time getting her finished, even with one of the top boxer handlers on her.
Kiki actually has a naturally shorter tail, it is really only about 1-1.5 inches longer than you would expect it if it were docked, and docking it is just not an option. We will see what happens, I will let you know if we decide to take her AKC, I really do think it is time for AKC to be more open to it regardless of breed standards.
I do know of 2 yorkies with full tails that completed their Canadian Championships rather quickly, professionally handled. They were from Germany also.
