I had a similar thing happen to me with a toy poodle I had who was attacked by a boxer when I had him on a leash. It was awful and i am very very protective of my yorkies for this reason.

I think if you can take all the precations necessary to show your bf that th smae thing will not happen again, I think he will get over it. It is important that a tiny yorkie always be on a leash when outside even in a fenced area due to birds of prey, dogs and coyotes who can jump fences, pools and water features they can fall into and just to be under your control at all times.

You need to have perameters set up in the house for areas where the dog is allowed where they cannot slip out a door and run into the street or get stepped on accidentally.

Reading the threads on here about safety and other stories will help. It can make ypu slightly paranoid because so many things can happen to these little guys but they are worth the anxiety stress.
