Tatum loves Cheerios! I taught her to chase and catch a soft-sided frisbee in about 20 minutes by using those! What's good about them is they aren't a lot of "junk filler". But yes, you want to only use treats when training to do something. Tatum gets a treat almost every time she goes potty outside. And sometimes we just sit and do tricks for treats. Now, when we were going through obedience school, our trainer actually had us bring a cooked hamburger patty (torn into teeny tiny pieces) to give the dogs while in class. She said that to teach as much as we were trying to teach, the dog needed a very "special" treat... not just your ordinary one you use at home. Worked like a charm too!
