 its illegal here
I am pretty positive that leaving a dog/kid in a car the summer (when it is higher than a certain temp.) is illegal even if you think it's only going to be a minute. It is also illegal to have them ride in the bed of your truck unless they are in a crate or their feet are protected from the HOT metal. I know in past summers animal control has seized animals left in a car and the owners were ticketed and were unable to get their animals back. Both the police and animal control seem to take it pretty seriously here, which is a good thing. .
