Is he overweight - or is he just bigger? If he is overweight what are you doing to get his weight under control?
The shampoo sounds like a good start. You could use it several times a week to help him. There are also products that can be used after shampoo or just when they are wet to help with the itchiness - they aren't conditioners, but look similar Hylyt EFA Creme Rinse 8 oz 15415 Kennel Vet VetRxDirect - Relief® Creme Rinse TropiClean Oxy-Med Medicated Oatmeal Rinse at PETCO
I think some of these come in spray form also |
Before I left for 3 months his weight was at 9lbs, He is a bigger Yorkie, the vet had said that he was perfectly healthy and that he was mostly muscle.
I feed him Eukaneuba, since I have been here on YT I learned about different foods and asked the vet yesterday about changing to canidae, and all she told me was that if they aren't having any problems with their food there is no reason to change it..It kind of irritated me cuz she acted like I was wierd or something for asking about changing his diet, and I even told her it was becuase he has problems with itching and watery eyes...
My mom said that she went through 3 bags of food over the 3month period, normally 1 bag of food lasts me at least 3 months. So I am guessing his weight gain was from them over feeding him. So no I have him back on his normal food portions.
