I had Scooter nuetered about a month ago now. He was 9 months old at the time. I was unsure what to think about it because he had such good blood lines, is well behaved, and the list goes on. After weighing all the options, I decided to go for it. I love our vet but they are not always the cheapest so I got recommendations on other vets from friends and coworkers.
Long story short, I decided to just stay with my vet because by the time the new vets would run all the tests and initial examm fees, it would cost me the same. One of Scooters testicles was not decended so the procedure was a little more intense than originally planned. Instead of having stitches in one area that would dissolve on thier own, he had to have a second set on the side. After about 12 days, I took him back to the vet to get the stitches out.
The first day they will be drowsy and won't eat much but he has been back to normal ever since. That was one thing that worried me when I was considering what to do. He used to mark his territory and that has pretty much stopped. He is doing great.
I encourage you to do it, especially if you don't have time or want to worry about puppies....you never know when they will run into a good smelling female. Ask your vet the millions of questions you have and the answers will help you figure out what to do.
