My puppy is 5 months old. She normally has very silky, soft puppy fur. Lately, she began matting at her roots. We tried brushing but it didn't help at all. She turned into one giant mat. When I bathed her I couldn't even run my fingers through her fur, much less the brush. So I was wondering if this is just her puppy coat growing out or something. Since, yorkies don't shed I was wondering if they have trouble losing their puppy coats. Is this true? Or is my dog just a mess? My DH and I shaved her the best that we could last night. We left the hair on her legs and head. We are hoping that when it grows back it will be normal again. HELP!
