Ok, Chiki our Chi was very well potty trained until a few months ago (well almost a year)
Hubby and me work full time, but luckily we both work very close to home that we can come both come to lunch( different times, usually me later than him) and spend time with the dogs.
When I leave I make sure I walk the dogs so they can relief themselves, then I leave Jerome(semi potty train) stays in the kitchen since is a big area( he has his pee pads, toys and his bed with blankie in the kitchen) and I just put the baby gates up and he stays there until hubby gets home for lunch. Chiki our Chihuahua will be 7 years old this September we don't put him with Jerome in the Kitchen because we thought he was potty trained.
I've found several pee spots in the front bedroom which is his favorite bedroom because there is a big window and a cat perch where he can lay down and see people passing by. Well, that is not the only bedroom I've found pee spots, he has peed in the other 3 bedrooms and he loooves the corner of them. Luckily, we have a steam cleaner and I'm able to clean the spots once I find them, but in the last few months it has gotten out of hand. He pees on anything he sees on the floor like my shoes, the newspaper when we bring it in and leave it on the floor for a little while, the legs of the furniture, if I'm doing laundry and sort out the clothes and leave them on the floor while doing other things he pees on the clothes.. I take them outside all the time when I'm home, i take them for a walk, I play with them and give them lots and lots of love, they're my babies, my world, my life, they sleep with us, they have a whole lot of toys, they are spoil rotten. I tell hubby I was born to spoil them

, but Chiki peeing in the house is starting to become an issue. hubby want me to crate him, but i don't think that is the right move, he's never being crated and by us leaving him in a crate could traumatize him. We can't leave him in the kitchen with Jerome because he jumps and gets out of the kitchen.
He is a rescue and the only thing we know about his background is that when he was a puppy his previous owners used to lock him up in the bathroom of the small apartment the used to live in. They used to work long hours and go out of town a lot and he would get boarded at the vets office. Luckily we got him when he was about 6 months old. I don't know if that has something to do with his problem.
In the meantime, I bought some doggie diapers and he hates them. I already order belly bands and doggie trousers. I hope that can help. I also set an appointment with the vet for next week to see if maybe he has some kind of incontinence issue.
I would not let my husband crate him, over my dead body!!!, I know hubby gets frustrated, but that is not the way to do it. He wants to get hard wood for the house since most of the house is carpet, but he's told me he won't do it until the dogs are potty trained.
Jerome doesn't pee as much in the house he's starting to tell me when wants to pee or poop, he's progressing sowly, but surely, but with Chiki looks like we are going backwards. What is going on with my baby?
Any suggestions, advice? has someone had the same problem? how did you fix it? Help please!!!
