I have two litterboxes and two pad holders w/ wee pads....

I have 5 Yorks and they all have different potty preferences.

The litterboxes are great... I couldn't find any "doggie specific" litter when I first got them, so I use a baby kitten litter "formula".... which works perfectly for us.

Admittedly, I think I'd rather find a pellet type litter like you mentioned, since the "grainy" / "sandy" type litter can sometimes be a bit messy.... but, I have high side boxes, so it's not been too terribly troublesome.... still though, I think a pellet litter may be easier to keep up with.

Other than that, I prefer the litterboxes to the wee pads.... none of the leaking on to the floor - - missed it - - - or constant washing - like with the disposable and washable pads.... just a daily scoop out - a weekly washing of the box - weekly litter change.... and that's that!
