Yorkies are never
declawed! Declawing is a process of removing their nails.

This is not done to dogs, however it is sometimes done to cats.

It is an extremely painful process and leaves them defenseless with nothing to use for their own protection if they are ever in a situation where they need to defend themselves. In my opinion, this is cruel.
Hopefully, you are referring to having dewclaws removed from your Yorkie. The dewclaw is low on the back of the leg and is best removed so it will not get hung on things and cause injury to the dog.
This is usually done when a pup, but can be done later. Most breeders attend to this before the pups are sold. However, my girl was a year old when I got her and the vet who had removed her dewclaws missed one and so I had it removed at that time.
Hopefully, this has answered your question, but if not, please clarify and ask for further information.
I hope you enjoy Yorkie Talk. And welcome!

This is the first time I have seen your posts.
