Hi Michelle, Welcome to YorkieTalk. I know it does get confusing, but there is a great deal of difference between the registries. After the AKC cracked down on breeders and puppy mills, many breeders had to leave and these alternative registries popped up. The AKC is the only registry that does routine, unannounced kennel inspections. They are also the only registry that does DNA testing. Assuming you mean the Continental Kennel Club and not the legitimate Canadian Kennel Club, the CKC requires no stipulation that the breeder has breeding rights when he registers the dog, and I find this extremely unethical. I also have a problem with the Continental Kennel Club choosing those initials because the Canadian Kennel Club has a good reputation, and is the AKC equivalent; I think those initials were chosen to mislead people, again just my opinion.
