Unhappy Extremely Swollen Lymph Nodes- Help!!!

I have a one year old yorkie that just had his baby teeth removed two and a half ago. The vet said he had very bad gum disease from the teeth being in such bad shape (I recently rescued him and the owners did not take good care of him). I had bloodwork done on him prior to the tooth removal and all vital organs checked out fine. He was put on Clindamycin for a week because his lymph nodes under his neck were swollen and the vet said it was probably from the teeth. The lymph nodes are still swollen two weeks later. They are both the size of a large marble. He was put on another round of antibiotics (Amoxicillin) on Wednesday.

Does anyone know if I should I already be seeing an improvement if this is an infection? The vet wants to test him for cancer if this second round of antibiotics does not help. I don't see how such a young dog would have cancer? How common is cancer in such a young dog? I am just so worried!! Any advice would be helpful!!
