So, do you have a picture of your two in their outfits? I bet they're just adorable! Glad you all had such a great time! |
Funny picture!
The fireworks and everything were great!! There was a local Iowa rock band (no not Slipknot

) that performed starting at 6:30 and then the symphony with Broadway star Craig Schulman. And then Iowa-born, world famous Simon Estes, performed with the sympnony to raise money forthe 2008 Iowa Disaster Fund - to help those whose homes were destroyed when a F5 tornado hit Parkersburg, Iowa and to help those who have had huge damage by the floods this summer.
To top it off we actually saw 2 firework displays!!

-- right as the symphony began playing the 1812 Overture fireworks went off after the Iowa Cubs (yep, Chicago's AAA team) - the ballpark is a mile or so from the capital and the capital sits up on a hill, and then the fireworks display for the big event.
I was concerned about the noise, but they were setting them off far enough away that it wasn't as loud as it could be. The noisiest part was actually the number of cannons being fired during the overture - they were a lot closer to us. We saw quite a few dogs there - they all seemed calm
