This was an extra precaution that I took, but mainly because I think the AKC is the only registry that is actually trying to do something about the puppy mill situation. It is the only registry that does unannounced routine kennel inspections, and requires DNA testing. I believe in what it's trying to do, and I believe it takes our support through money contributions to do these things. So I always encourage people to register their dogs if they are eligible, and if you can afford to contribute to the other programs, I think the lifetime lost and found listing is a good one. We registered Joey's microchip number.
