mix equal parts vinegar and rubbing alcohol - vinegar to kill the bacteria and alcohol to dry the moisture - rub with a cotton ball and massage the ear.
I'm really curious about this method and would prefer it to the Otomax if it's an option |
Ellie's vet said that if the dog is having a reaction to the Otomax it usually shows up as redness all over and sores on the ear flap. It may be that the cleaning is irritating and your vet may have you cut down on it or they might change the Otomax. There are lots of treatments and I'm sure they work well but I usually go the medical route and let Ellie's vet decide what to do, especially since she can't stand behind anything I use that I get over the counter. There are good solutions (even homemade) to clean ears though. I think a couple are posted on YT. I'd ask the vet first though personally.
If I couldn't get to the vet and I knew Ellie had a yeast infection, I'd probably use Zymox.
