I'm going to type a book here. I hope it may be helpful to people who love Native names Like I do!!

When looking for a true Native American name, do not rely on the internet alone. Shysie for example is adorable! But it is not a Native american name. You won't find it or many many others anywhere but on the internet. You won't find a tribal history, here are a few ways to check. One, the length of the name. Native american language is much longer than English so if you have a meaning with 3 words or a name with several syllables you can expect a long name. Like, WOL-LA-CHEE - Exact meaning- Ant- or LHA-CHA-EH meaning Dog- hmmm or the month of October. Its word in Navajo is
NIL-CHI-TSOSIE - The meaning of that is "small wind"
Great choices can be found in easy to say names Like the name Chepi- Meaning Fairy. There are tons of short easy names with simple translations. One of my pets is named "Takoda"- meaning-friend.
There are tons of names that are Native American inspired. Some of my own family has been named that way! My cousins name is Shadow Hawk That's not indian but they named him with inspiration. Or find a Native dictionary and choose a single word that has a meaning you like and then another, simply combine the words, you can even remove letters to combine them and make your own. Often names like the one mentioned above are made using two words and adding the meaning of a partial word.
Wow, I hope I am not being confusing to anyone! I am very bad at explaining things like this.
I only wanted to help give a little insite into using Native names and making up a name using different words or parts of words will NOT offend any Native American. Anyone would consider it a honor ( as long as your not naming a vicious attack dog LOL ) The main point is to have learn a little, have fun, and in the end love what ever you have chosen!

Now, all that said I still need help with my own name! LOL
WOW! All of that is way too confusing for me. Good luck finding your true native american name, perhaps someone else with more experience can help!
