I know what you mean, I thank Yorkitalk for telling me about the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (YTCA) I thought as long as it was AKC I was safe, but found out this just isn't the case. Here's a link for referrals.
Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club I suggest you talk to a few, you will learn so much on what to look for in a breeder. You will find that many charge no more than backyard breeders do.
