Lisa that is what I did with Izzy.

We got her last Memorial weekend and when the 4th rolled around I took her outside and even to a fireworks display in our area (quite a few to be exact). I held her (she was harnessed) and we talked softly to her and sang. Same with the thunder...we sort of made a game out of it.
Now this year..lol...every time someone blows off a firecracker in the area she starts to bark and wants to go outside to investigate.
