When I took Piper home for the first time, I spent alot of time with him on my lap, just petting him and getting acquainted. I almost took him back, thinking he was too aggressive! He would turn his head around and sink his tiny super-sharp baby teeth into my hand every time I petted him. When I was about to give up on him, I felt the lump. He was so tiny and it was so large that I couldn't believe I didn't see or feel it before. Turns out, each time I petted him, I was hurting him. We raced to the vet who told me it would go away in a week or so, and it did. Since I ended up having Piper for over 16 wonderful years, thank goodness I found the lump before I gave him back to the breeder.
