It sounds like the hernia is a inguinal hernia. My Remy was born with this type of hernia, it is easily repaired by a vet. Remy's surgery cost just over $500.00 . If the hernia is small the incission and stitches will be small, Remys was quite large so she has a lot of stitches.I also have a little shih tzu / maltese cross ,shes about 8 lb. but very small and she has the most amazing personality ( she was a puppymill rescue ) If I were to adopt a rescue dog again I wouldnt hesitate to take a shih tzu with a hernia as the medical bill would be minor for a dog with an awsome personality !
