Daisy hated it too, I gave in and got the retractable leash. I still didnt like it b/c it worried me, but then i found one that has a lead on it so the wire can't hurt her. Its about a 3 ft soft lead so thats all that touches her. I also use a harness. I was AMAZED at the difference, she loves going for walks now. Also, keep the leash short next to you , dont give her slack right away, this will help her stay up with you and not allow her to stop short in her tracks.
