I've been there a couple times on day trips from Hilton Head and from what I remember it's a pretty easy city to get around. It seemed pretty compact and easy to walk to places. We toured some old houses around the main square ( where the Forrest Gump bench is ) and walked to alot of the shops and restaurants right near there.
It was nice! I don't remember if hotels were right in that downtown area or if you have to drive out? It would be nice to stay where it's convenient!
