Congratulations on getting your first Yorkie. I know you must be excited. It is good that you are doing your research. Pedigrees are helpful to let you know what champions might be in your dogs background. If your dog is from champion bloodlines then you can usually find information on those kennels that bred the champions. Usually you can find websites or books with photographs. You could also contact the breeders of those dogs and they might give you input on coat types, health problems and structural problems that might exist in their lines. If your puppy is not from show lines or the champions are more than 3 generations back then it really does not matter as much but it is nice to know. Just because a dog is not from champion lines does not necessarily mean it is a poor quality dog since some breeders are responsible breeders and breed for proper type and soundness but they just don't show. Also, just because a dog has a lot of champions that does not always mean it is of breeding quality. You first source of information should be the breeder you are getting her from. If she is a responsible breeder she should be able to give you lots of input on the parents and grandparents and even provide pictures. We will be looking forward to seeing pictures of your new baby. How old will she be when you get her?
