Default Thieves on my Front Porch

So I have recently moved and two of my wonderful possessions were these matching Lion's Head Urns that were heavy cast iron and very very old, and amazingly patina'd (sp?). I found them about 6 years ago with my best friend at a lovely nursery down in LA. I paid $485 each for them and it was a lot but I knew that I would love them and never tire of looking at them. They must weigh 75 lbs each easily if not more. When I moved, I decided to place the on my front porch because I have no backyard at my new place and considering how large they were....thought they would be safe. Well this passed weekend someone came up onto my porch and stole them from me. I'm just kicking myself for not chaining them down but I thought that would have looked so bad....stupid, stupid, stupid! Now, I realize that these are material items and can be replaced with something similar and all that but I seriously feel violated. I know I will never get them back. Do you think I should file a police report or would that be a complete waste of time? I want to turn it in to my Homeowner's but I don't even have pics of them and I'm not sure I still have the receipt. Any suggestions? Has anything similar happened to any of you?....did your Homeowner's Policy still cover the theft? I'm just absolutely sick just thinking about it.......
