I would leave my little guy by himself for short periods of time (like grocery shopping) at first to see how he did. We started off with a small area and then moved to the rest of the house once he seemed to be OK. After time and gradual freedom he did well on his own. As soon as we left he would go to our room and sleep in the bed till we got home. But one thing I did notice, I had to give him lots of attention when we did get home. Or he would retaliate!! Once I got home late and didnt give him the amount of attention he wanted so he peed in our bed right in front of us... that little stinker! So I learned my lesson.
I am home most of the time so he wasnt alone often, but he did well when we did have to go out. I still had grandma keep him for longer periods of time, but that was becuase he enjoyed the visits with her. Hope that helps.
