My son goes to a different dentist now for that very reason. I have to drive about 30 - 45 min. but, it is worth it. He is high functioning autistic and a few years ago this particular dentist wanted me to take him to a hospital put him to sleep to have a couple of fillings and silver crowns on the teeth. Ethan never really liked him and when I heard him one day talking to a little boy that they were having a really hard time with the x-rays those hurt. It's wasn't so much what he said it was the way he said it.
I basically told him off right there over Ethan I told him no way was he putting my child too sleep to do this procedure without trying first to do with either novicane or gas. I ended up reporting him to the local ADA.
Now Ethan goes to this wonderful dentist. He loves her and all of her staff. She was able to do the procedure without any problems in her office. What is so funny is that she was a hygenist before she starting practcing and she use to work for the dentist I took him too previously. She quit because she didn't like how he treated patients & staff. She even took the time to call me at home and to check on Ethan. She also did his first cleaning.
So now he dosen't mind at all going to the dentist. He just went a few weeks ago for his 6 month cleaning. No problems at all.
