I have a 9 1/2 year old female cat and a 17 wk old male yorkie... it has taken some getting used to. Buffalo (yorkie) gets hyper sometimes and runs around and Tigerlilly (cat) watches crouched under the desk and if he gets too close she will chase after him. but they have been getting along, tigerlilly never uses her claws on him and only bites softly to show she is the boss. I would say overall they are growing on eachother. Tigerlilly even lets Buff clean her on occasion... he loves her ears lol.
