My sister has the mirena and had side effects when she 1st started on it. Hair loss, cramping, irregular bleeding. Her hair still sheds but she hasnt complained about anything else lately, oh she did have mood swings also.
I have a copper iud(paraguard) with no hormones bc my body cant handle them. The paraguard is also good for 10 yrs and i have had mine for 5 yrs already. I didnt have many side effects other than heavier bleeding and cramping the 1st yr, but everything is back to normal now. I would talk to my doctor about the effects.
