here goes...

okay, when i first got Kash, i confined him to the whole kitchen area with a baby gate while i was at work (8-10 hours). our kitchen is pretty big, and putting down just one pee pad wasn't cutting it. he would just pee all over the kitchen floor, but never on the pad. after coming home and finding puddles of pee on the floor everyday for about two-four weeks, i researched on YT, and found out he just had TOO much free space. so, i bought an x-pen, put his crate, food/water, toys at one end and a pee pad at the other end. he immediately went pee on the pad and never anywhere else in the pen. when i came home, i just took him outside once every hour. i think that way he understands, when mommy is home, i go pee outside, and when mommy isn't home, i go pee on the pad.

he went potty on the pad for about 2-3 months, and now i think he just holds it until i get home because i can never see any pee on the pad anymore. it's always clean. for a while i was skeptical and i kept searching his pen for spots where he might have pottied, and i'd smell inside his crate (like his blankets and stuff), but alas, no pee.

they eventually just get it. like now, he's almost 7 months old and he doesn't have to go potty once every hour. now, it's about once every 3 hours. sometimes i'll take him out and just stand there for what seems like forever waiting for him to potty and he won't! lol. oh, and he's also learned to scratch at the back door when he has to go.

good luck, and let YT know if you have anymore questions!
