Okay, this is just my opinion, so take it how you want...
If this breeder sells to pet stores (probably through a broker), she does not care where her puppies end up. Sounds like she also sells directly herself, but probably because she can get more money if she sells them herself. Most brokers only pay $250-300 for puppies. They transport them to the coasts and get a lot more than that. The pet stores then add more on to the price, so there are usually three parties making money off each "sell" I would not buy a puppy from a breeder that sells ANY dogs to pet stores or brokers. (They are suppose to be USDA licensed to do this, so if they have a USDA license beware!!)

I saw into one of the transportation trucks once. The driver was stopped at Wal-Mart with the back door open. The truck was lined with cages on both sides. Small dogs were 3-4 in cages that were staked 3 -4 high. The larger dogs were only 1 or 2 in a cage, usually with a smaller cage on top of their large one. There was not as many large dogs. It looked and smelled clean, it was air conditioned (It was summer), but that is not how I want my babies to leave me. I don't even like to ship if I don't have to. I did talk to the driver and he said he was headed for New York. I live in NE Kansas, so these puppies had a long drive ahead of them.

Breeders sell to brokers because they are guaranteed a price at 6-10 weeks old. The breeders don't have to give extra vaccinations or pay for more food because the puppies leave to live in a cage at these young ages.

Many that have bought puppies from me, know that I still have them here even at 6+ months. They will not leave until they are ready and the right home comes along. I am never in a hurry to get a puppy out of here.

People that sell puppies to brokers and pet stores obviously don't consider the puppies as part of their family!!
